Museum’s Fall Dinner & Lecture Series set for Nov. 15

from the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame

Goshen, NY — Dine on a delicious buffet and delight in the rich tale of Orange County’s dairying history.

Join the Harness Racing Museum on Tuesday (Nov. 15) from 6-8 p.m. as Alex Prizgintas, Monroe High School student and history enthusiast, dips into the region’s abundant agricultural history for an engaging presentation on Orange County’s history of milk production, which once flowed from more than 2,000 area dairies to markets and homes in New York City.

Tickets are $18 for museum members, $20 for non-members and include a buffet dinner with soft beverages and dessert. Reservations are required; call 845.294.6330.

Prizgintas will lead attendees through the dairy industry’s regional history, from its rise to prominence through its subsequent decline. Learn about New York City dairying, “swill milk” and how the arrival of the Erie railroad in Orange County became a catalyst for change.

To illustrate his topic, Alex will be showcasing his collection of more than 200 milk bottles, a rare assemblage which earned him the National Association of Milk Bottle Collectors Dannheim Emerging Leader Award for his work in promoting and preserving both the history of dairy farming and their milk bottles.

Space is limited so please call 845.294.6330 to purchase your tickets today.
