Freehold, NJ — My Lady Day is no longer singing the blues.

After earning her first career win in memorable fashion in a five-horse photo at Lexington’s Red Mile, the 2-year-old filly pacer tries to make it two in a row in Saturday’s $83,600 Madison County at Hoosier Park.

My Lady Day, trained by Joe Holloway and driven by Andy Miller, is the 3-1 second choice on the morning line in the eight-horse field. Homer Hochstetler’s Sweetnsinful is the 2-1 favorite.

Saturday’s card at Hoosier also includes two divisions of Madison County stakes for 2-year-old male pacers and 2-year-old male and female trotters plus three Circle City splits for 3-year-old male trotters and two Circle City divisions for 3-year-old male pacers.

My Lady Day (#5) won a five-horse photo in a division of the International Stallion Stakes.

A daughter of stallion Western Ideal out of the mare Economic Clout and a full sister to stakes-winner Twist N Clout, My Lady Day notched her first victory in eight starts on Oct. 4 when she split horses in deep stretch and won her $74,300 division of the International Stallion Stakes by a nose over Instant Respect in 1:52.1. The top five finishers were all separated by a nose.

“That was an exciting race,” said Holloway, who trains My Lady Day for owner Marty Granoff’s Val D’Or Farms. “She had raced decent the week before against some good fillies and I thought she stood a good chance going into that race. She raced good. I’ve always liked the filly.”

In her start prior to the International Stallion, My Lady Day finished fifth from post eight — beaten only 2-3/4 lengths — in a division of the Bluegrass Stakes won by She’s Da Bomb.

My Lady Day enjoys a little recreation time with a friend.

Earlier in the season, she was third in two rounds of the New Jersey Sire Stakes series and finished sixth in the final. She was fourth in divisions of the Historic-Debutante and Reynolds stakes and has earned $56,420.

“She’s always been good gaited, but trying wasn’t her biggest suit,” Holloway said. “The toughest thing was to find races for her, so it’s tough to tell what you do or don’t have.”

My Lady Day is eligible to the Matron and Three Diamonds stakes. Eliminations for the Matron are scheduled for Nov. 10 at Dover Downs, with the final on Nov. 17. Eliminations for the Three Diamonds are Nov. 23 at the Meadowlands, with the final on Nov. 30.

“I’m hoping she gets better at (age) 3, but I’d like to put more money on her card the rest of this year,” Holloway said. “She trained really good this week, now she has to follow through and race good. We’ll wait and see what Saturday brings.”
