Noel Daley saw Captain Albano be something of a victim of circumstances in prior races, and the trainer much preferred the way things looked last week in the colt’s Delvin Miller Adios elimination. He wouldn’t mind a repeat viewing in Saturday’s $350,000 final.

Dalgety riding the wave
Carter Dalgety has needed little time to make a big impression. The 21-year-old Dalgety, who earlier this year became the quickest junior driver to reach 100 wins in New Zealand history, recently arrived in the U.S. to spend a couple months observing harness racing firsthand on this side of the world. Not even two weeks into his stay, he made an impact here as well.
MacDonald seeks rare Meadowlands Pace-Adios double
Three drivers this century have won the Meadowlands Pace and Adios in the same year. Each time, the driver captured those races with different horses. James MacDonald can take the first step toward duplicating that feat on Saturday. MacDonald, who won the Meadowlands Pace this past Saturday with Legendary Hanover, will drive Huntingforchrome in the first of two $25,000 eliminations for the Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids, for 3-year-old pacers, at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Zeron has ‘Bestfriend’ for Hambletonian Maturity
Scott Zeron is uncertain how Saturday’s $425,000 E.T. Gerry Jr. Hambletonian Maturity for 4-year-old trotters will play out at The Meadowlands, with 12 horses going the extended distance of 1-1/8 miles, but he does feel good about one aspect of the race.
A look back as Tetrick aims to equal Pace record
From his earliest days of driving on the Grand Circuit, Tim Tetrick has enjoyed success in the Meadowlands Pace. He captured his first Pace in 2007 at the age of 25, making him at the time the youngest driver to ever win the race, and has added five more trophies since then. Tetrick will head to Saturday’s $650,000 edition of the event for 3-year-old pacers with the opportunity to equal John Campbell’s record of seven Meadowlands Pace triumphs when he drives Mirage Hanover, 9-2 on the morning line, at The Meadowlands.
Dunn enjoying cool moments with ‘Joe Fresh’
After teaming up for a memorable stakes-and-milestone win two weeks ago, Twin B Joe Fresh and driver Dexter Dunn return to action Saturday (July 13) in the $140,000 Dorothy Haughton Memorial for older female pacers at The Meadowlands. Last time out, Twin B Joe Fresh posted a neck victory over Sylvia Hanover in the Perfect Sting Stakes at the Big M. In addition to being Twin B Joe Fresh’s sixth consecutive triumph on the Grand Circuit dating back to last November, it was Dunn’s 2,000th win since arriving in the U.S. from New Zealand in the summer of 2018.
