Mystical Peter wins second straight in Meadows co-feature

Washington, PA — Mystical Peter moved first-over near the three-quarters, gobbled up the leader in mid-stretch, and went on to his second straight win in Thursday’s (Oct. 13) co-feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,100 conditioned trot.

Mystical Peter was third when Ridge Warren sent him after Killer Instinct. The 6-year-old Uncle Peter-Love Me Two Times had little trouble clearing, but still had to hold off the rallying Fawn De Touch. He did so by a half length in a mile that went in 1:55.2 over a “good” surface. Icanflylikeanangel shot the Lightning Lane for show.

Todd Keith owns and trains Mystical Pater, who soared over $200,000 in lifetime earnings.

In Thursday’s other co-feature, also a $12,100 conditioned trot, Bjornsson made his decisive move to the top at the quarter and prevailed in a career best 1:56 for Hunter Myers, trainer Andy Rickert, and owners Corey Hendricks and Melanie O’Donnell. It was the initial win in 17 outings this year for the 3-year-old son of Muscle Hill-Missymae Bluestone.

Aaron Merriman collected four victories on the 12-race card, giving him 11 over the past three programs.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (Oct. 14), when the program features corgi races and Family Fun Night, both sponsored by the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association. On the wagering front, the 11-race card offers a pair of carryovers: $2,134.70 in the final-race Super Hi-5 and $800.40 in the Jackpot Pick-5. First post is 5:10 p.m.
