STATEMENT: “The Nevada Standardbred Association is supportive of integrity in horse racing, however, the bill cannot be supported in its current form.”

RATIONALE: It is the position of the Nevada Standardbred Association, Inc. that HR 1754, while well intended, does not adequately address several key points as follows:

1. The Bill does not adequately address consistency in international standards.
2. The Bill does not adequately address the impact with international commerce should there be inconsistencies between countries.
3. The Bill does not adequately address treatment differences between breeds.
4. The Bill does not adequately address the cost of compliance.
5. The Bill does not adequately address the level of Standardbred expertise in the governing body.
