New lifetime mark for KS Dream at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY — The red-hot KS Dream took a lifetime mark of 1:56.2 against a strong, well-balanced group of young trotters in a co-featured $9,500 conditioned event on Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 3) at Saratoga Casino Hotel.

The 4-year-old Conway Hall gelding, who entered the race perfect in three starts thus far since joining the stable of trainer Andy Gardner, blasted to the early lead from post seven while in rein to Jimmy Devausx. KS Dream made it to the lead, but it took a blistering :27.1 first quarter to get to the top. He then got a breather to the half in :57.2 before favorite Credit Con (Wally Hennessey) tried to put a threat together in the final half — but that effort proved futile. In the stretch, 45-1 long shot Royal Soldier (Dan Cappello Jr.) emerged as the main threat, but KS Dream held strong to win at 12-1 by three-quarters of a length. Kasha’s Boy (Chris Long), the longest shot on the board at 50-1, rallied for third.

KS Dream, who is owned and bred by Karen Smith-Ashley, paid $26.80 to win, and led an exacta and trifecta which paid $642 and $4,638, respectively.

Live racing at Saratoga resumes on Saturday evening (Aug. 7) with first post time at 6:45 p.m.
