New Open events added for Delaware horsemen on closing week

by Matt Sparacino, publicity director, Harrington Raceway

Harrington, DE — Horsemen racing at Harrington Raceway will notice a new trio of races on the condition sheet for the final week (Oct. 19-22) of the 2015 meet.

As part of Delaware’s showcase night on Oct. 21 when four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund finals and $20,000 consolation events will be contested, three $20,000 (est.) Open events (may be handicapped) have been added with preference given to Delaware owned or bred horses who have started at least once at the Harrington meet.

Much like the annual Governor’s Day program, the eight horses for each Open division with the highest yearly earnings will be drawn in with only one entry per trainer/owner permitted per race.

There will be one Open event each for both sexes of pacers and one event for trotters. The races will appear on the final condition sheet, to be released Oct. 12.
