New Standardbred Owner Seminar at Batavia Downs set for Aug. 25

from the Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund

Batavia, NY — The Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund is hosting a seminar for new and prospective Standardbred horse owners at Batavia Downs on Saturday (Aug. 25) from 3-5:30 p.m.

Participants are invited to gather at 3 p.m. for informational panel discussions, a tour of the backstretch, followed by dinner and live racing.

Panels discussions will be led by industry veterans and cover a variety of topics relating to Standardbred ownership, including types of ownership, the risks and rewards of owning a Standardbred racehorse, training costs, vet bills, tax issues/incentives, and other financial considerations.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to introduce and educate potential new owners on the ins-and-outs of owning a Standardbred racehorse in a qualified environment with experienced Standardbred professionals,” said M. Kelly Young, executive director, Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund. “Owning a horse can be fun and rewarding, but it is a big step and no one should go in blind. We want to serve as a resource for first-time Standardbred owners and make the process of getting involved in this industry as easy as possible.”

Reservations are requested to ensure sufficient materials are available. For additional information, including pricing details and to RSVP, please contact Angie McGrath at amcgrath@caphill.com or call 518.694.5002.
