New super sale added to Harrisburg schedule

from the Garden State Horse Sales Company

Hanover, PA — Ralph Lemmon and Dale Welk, respectively the President and General Manager of the Garden State Horse Sales Company, have announced that the company has secured the rights to conduct a mixed sale — to be known as the Harrisburg Super Sale — at the world renowned Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg on Monday, January 21, 2008.

Both Lemmon and Welk were ecstatic about the prospect.

“We have been trying to lease the complex in this time slot for a long time. However, because of date conflicts with the annual Farm Show itself, we could not. Because of the addition of the new climate controlled Equine Arena and the Equine Stable, we are now able to secure the space.”

In addition to being the foremost Standardbred horse sales facility in the world, Harrisburg is the most centrally located: it is less than a three hour drive from the slots-enhanced racetracks at The Meadows, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Chester, Dover Downs, Yonkers and, of course, The Meadowlands. It is also within a couple of hours drive from all the major training centers in New Jersey.

Dale Welk said, “Not only is Harrisburg the best-known sales location in the Standardbred world, but the Harrisburg Super Sale will offer both consignors and buyers a weatherproof alternative to what is currently available during the precarious winter months. Not only is the Farm Show Complex weatherproof, but it is self contained so the horses do not have to be shipped from a stable area to a sales ring.”
