New York County Fair finals at Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — The New York County Fair series offered races at 20 different grassroots locations throughout the state this summer, with the first event at Afton on June 20.

After a long and arduous summer and many miles driving to fairs such as Sandy Creek, Malone, Palmyra, Dunkirk and others, all roads will converge on Monticello Raceway on Thursday (Sept. 5) as the New York Sire Stakes County Fair finals will host eight divisions, with each dash worth $10,000.

Also on tap is the RUS championship event which will host four riders. The RUS circuit consisted of 10 starts within the state coinciding with the New York Sire Stakes County Fairs. The event will go between the second and third race. They will race for $2,400 which will be split evenly between the four riders.

Monticello Raceway and the Monticello Harness Horsemen’s Association will be hosting a BBQ outside of the paddock during the afternoon’s races and it is open to all participants.
