The 4-year-old SJ’s Caviar mare also broke her own national season’s mark on a half-mile track for 4-year-old mares and tied the overall mark, shared by Traverse Seelster, whom she edged out for the win.

NF Happenstance left alertly from post seven and made the front at the quarter-mile mark in :27.2. She proceeded to set fractions of :56 and 1:25.1 while pocket sitting Traverse Seelster awaited the passing lane.

Traverse Seelster fought gamely to the wire, but would be held at bay as NF Happenstance recorded her seventh win of the year. Trained by her driver, NF Happenstance boosted her seasonal earnings to nearly $70,000. She broke her own 4-year-old track record with the win.

Driver George Dennis had five wins on the program, following a three-win performance on Tuesday night. Victor Kirby and Tyler Davis each had a driving double.
