NJ stallions eligible for SBOANJ 2016 Breeder Incentive Program

Flemington, NJ — The Board of Directors of the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey has approved an exciting new $350,000 program to encourage breeding in the state of New Jersey with a substantial incentive.

The Breeders Incentive Program includes both mare residency incentive payments, and a bonus for breeding to New Jersey pacing and trotting stallions.

Although the SBOANJ is hopeful that this program will attract more stallions to New Jersey, as of this day, there are just three commercial stallions standing in the state of New Jersey for 2016.

On the trotting side, there is Trixton 1:50.3 (Muscle Hill-Emilie Cas El), the 2014 Hambletonian champion who bred 140 mares in North America and 120 mares in Europe in 2015. On the pacing side, the 2010 Horse of the Year, Rock N Roll Heaven 1:47.3 (Rocknroll Hanover-Artistic Vision) will now also stand in New Jersey along with Lis Mara 1:47.3 (Cambest-Lisheen), a Breeders Crown champion and double Canadian Pacing Derby winner.

“With the increasing likelihood that a referendum to permit casino gaming in Northern New Jersey will significantly increase purses for New Jersey breds in 2018 and beyond, and also considering the fact that breeders will be paid an incentive bonus of up to $1,500 upon paying their stud fee, it makes infinitely good sense to breed to New Jersey stallions,” said Bob Marks of Deo Volente Farms.
