No Drama Please takes Dover trotting feature

Dover, DE — No Drama Please proved strong to take the first $20,000 Open Handicap Trot of the Dover Downs season on Tuesday (Nov. 3).

At the start of the race, Spee Club (Montrell Teague) gunned for the lead and rebuffed a challenge from Faithfulandtrue (Mike Cole), who vacated the pocket and attempted to take the lead away through a :27.1 quarter. No Drama Please and Corey Callahan waited patiently from third before rushed in front of the stands to take control on approach to a :57 half.

Bluebird Jesse (Tim Tetrick), the 3-5 favorite, offered a mild challenge to three-quarters in 1:25.3, but in the stretch, No Drama Please left no doubt who was the best and won by a comfortable 1-1/4 lengths in 1:54.4. Bluebird Jesse settled for second, and Jammin Jack (Victor Kirby) rallied from last to finish third.

No Drama Please, a 4-year-old Trixton gelding, is owned by Joseph Smith and trained by Tom Fanning. He returned $7.00 to win.

Driver Montrell Teague won five races on the 14-race card.

Dover Downs races Monday through Thursday; daily post time is 4:30 p.m.
