Noble Prize, Napolitano in Monday Pocono spotlight

Wilkes-Barre, PA — The Kadabra gelding Noble Prize overcame a tough first-over journey for a second straight week, winning the $15,000-$20,000 claiming handicap trotting feature on the Monday (July 15) twilight card at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

After a forward tuck early, Noble Prize and driver George Napolitano Jr. started their uncovered move on favorite High Blue at the half, and the two battled up the backstretch, through the turn and into the stretch. Nearing the wire, Noble Prize proved the toughest horse, winning by 1-3/4 lengths in a new mark of in 1:54.4, with second-over Keystone Sergeant reaching to nip High Blue for second.

Noble Prize raced for trainer Lou Peña and owner Clinton Lugar.

Napolitano had a total of five winners on the Monday card, and now has climbed to 299 victories during the season, putting him in fourth among North American drivers.
