Northern Express rallies to victory at Dover

Dover, DE — Northern Express benefitted from a perfect journey to win the $18,000 Select Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night (Nov. 29).

Secret Jet parked Northern Express into the first turn before yielding to the pocket. Northern Express held the lead momentarily before even-money favorite Star Razor quarter-moved to the top just past a :28 opening quarter. Star Razor led the field to the half in :56.4. Remarkable De Vie advanced first-over up the backstretch and challenged Star Razor to the three-quarters in 1:26. At the top of the stretch, Star Razor started to tire and Russell Foster muscled Northern Express off the rail and charged home to win by a head in 1:56.1. Secret Jet, driven by Tyler Davis, rallied up the passing lane for second; Star Razor and Corey Callahan were third.
