Northville, MI — Northville Downs is very excited about being a part of the 2013 World Harness Handicapping Championship qualifying tournament hosted by the USTA and Horse Tourneys.com.

Northville’s qualifier will be held on Friday (Feb. 15). Be sure to register for the tournament next week at www.horsetourneys.com; registration is free and is limited to 1,250 entries.

The winner of the tournament will earn a berth ($1,000 value) to go on to compete at the Meadowlands in the World Harness Handicapping Championship.

New Facebook page

Northville Downs is excited to announce the launch of our brand new Facebook page. Our facebook page has generated more than 150 new likes this week alone!

Beginning this weekend the Northville Downs Facebook page will keep our racing fans up to date on race results minutes after results are official. It will also give live updates on our live racing program throughout the night.

We will also be adding “Friends Only” specials that will be available to our Facebook friends for discounts at the racetrack. Be sure to visit www.facebook.com/northvilledowns and like the page.

Around the track

Northville Downs has seen an increase in the number of outlets that are currently taking the Northville signal. It is up more than 15 percent from last year and currently Northville Downs is in almost 250 outlets across the country.

Purses are up at Northville and are averaging $58,000 per race night.

This Friday night Northville Downs has 14 live races and all will have full nine-horse fields. On Saturday, Northville Downs will feature 15 live races. Fifty cent trifectas and 10 cent superfectas are available on every race at Northville Downs.

Every Friday and Saturday night at Northville Downs we will have several promotions including voucher giveaways, and one fan will have a chance to win $100,000 every live racing night through the end of the meet, Saturday, April 27.

Every Friday night we play a game called Royal Flush Fridays where one lucky fan gets to pick five envelopes on our game board, and if he or she draws a royal flush they will win $100,000. Four of a kind pays $25,000 and a full house is worth $1,000. Last Friday night the fan selected to play drew a full house and was rewarded with $1,000.

On Saturday night, one lucky fan gets a chance to play Lucky Seven Saturdays. That person will have a chance to pick the first seven finishers in the 11th race on Saturday night. If he or she picks them correctly they win $100,000. If they get six of seven correct they will win $25,000 and five of seven pays $1,000. There is also a consolation for a win, exacta, trifecta and superfecta guessed correctly.

Live racing takes place every Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m.
