NPLC conference brings in fractional owners

by Jessica Schroeder, USTA Outreach & Membership Enrichment Coordinator

Columbus, OH — The National Pedigreed Livestock Council conference ended Wednesday (May 4) but not before two attendees were brought into the harness racing family via fractional ownership.

Two shares of HorsePlay Racing Stable were up for grabs to any registrant who signed up for the raffle drawing, sponsored by the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association; runner-up prizes were sponsored by the USTA.

Billy Smith, the executive director of the American Paint Horse Association, and Kim Hall, from the Pinto Horse Association of America, were the grand prize drawing winners.

A handful of other attendees expressed interest in signing up for the group since they did not win the OHHA sponsored shares, indicating the interest in racehorse ownership from people outside the sport.

HorsePlay Racing Stable is a fractional ownership group based at Scioto Downs. Members pay $350 for a two percent share of a racehorse from May 1–Sept. 25.
