Nuncio will not race in the Prix d’Amerique

The clash of the trotting titans, Bold Eagle and Nuncio has been postponed to late May 2017 after Stefan Melander announced Sunday (Jan. 8), that he will not enter Nuncio in the upcoming Prix d’Amerique.

For Nuncio to race in the Prix d’Amerique, Melander had to enter the horse in an upcoming race because the rules say a trotter must have raced once after Oct. 1 2016 to qualify for the Prix d’Amerique.

Melander had thoughts about entering Nuncio in a race at Jägersro next Saturday (Jan. 14), but has now decided not to go.

Nuncio will probably return to racing in April and target the Olympic Trot, the first international stake race in Sweden of the season, for his appearance.

His next probable appearance is the Elitlopp in late May, where Bold Eagle also should be headed.
