Batavia, NY — Five divisions of New York-bred Late Closers, including two non-wagering events, for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters, worth $13,300 each, highlighted the Wednesday (August 10) program at Batavia Downs Casino.

Wanda Polisseni’s Purple Haze Stables is loaded in the 3-year-old New York-bred trotting ranks with the ultra talented Dejarmbro and I’m The Answer and she has another good one in the quickly improving Hallin Cash.

Taking full advantage of his rail post draw, Hallin Cash (Cash Hall-Conways Jewel), with trainer/driver Dan Daley in the bike, went down the road to a much the best 2-3/4 length score in 2:01.3. That final time included a final stanza of :28.4.

“He did it easy, he was good tonight,” reinsman Daley said in the winner’s circle.

This was the third win of the season for Hallin Cash ($2.60) and he raised his 2011 bankroll to $38,487.

Other winners of the Late Closers were:

  • Bless America (Dream Vacation-Ta Ta Canada), owners Edward Reich and Irwin Lampert/trainer Gary Messenger/driver Roman Lopez; 2:00.2
  • Alighieri Lindy (Dream Vacation-Armbro Alfresco), owners Thomas and Kimberly Frarey/trainer Howard Okusko/driver Jack Flanigen; 2:01.3
  • Glorious Winner (Credit Winner-Fox Valley Flan), owner Tanah Merah Farms/trainer Erv Miller/driver Lewayne Miller; 2:00.4 (non-betting)
  • Small Bills (Cash Hall-Mini Shuttle), owners Albert and Michelle Crawford/trainer David Jannone/driver Stephane Bouchard; 2:01.2 (non-betting)

The New York Sire Stakes season takes a short break but resumes at America’s oldest lighted harness track on August 26 with 3-year-old filly pacers taking center stage in both sire stakes and late closing events.

Batavia Downs Casino is currently racing every Monday-Wednesday-Friday and Saturday night. Post time is 6:40 p.m. Simulcast wagering is offered every day but Tuesday.
