NYSS Rye Pace highlights Friday card at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY — It’s New York Sire Stakes Filly Friday, with Yonkers Raceway hosting the $214,224 Rye Pace for 3-year-olds on August 7. Four divisions — going as races four, five, six and eight — laminate the landscape, with first post for the 13-race card at the customary 7:10 p.m.

Indulge Me (Michel Lachance, post four) looms a puny pari-mutuel proposition in the first ($53,056) NYSS event. The homebred daughter of Bettor’s Delight wired her statebred sisters (at 1-20) last week at Saratoga, her fourth win — all against Empire foes — in seven seasonal starts ($213,301). She returns to Westchester for her first visit since finishing third in the $293,970 final of the Lismore Pace in mid-June. Ed Lohmeyer trains for co-owners Robert and Lauren Tucker.

Friday night’s second ($53,056) NYSS event features last season’s statebred champ, Eagle Way (Jason Bartlett, post six) and formidable challenger All Spirit (Jim Marohn, Jr., post two). The former, a Dream Away lass, was an odd-on NYSS winner at Saratoga in her most recent start. For the season, she has won four of her 10 tries ($112,257), with Mark Ford training for owner Frank Dettore. The latter, a daughter of Bettor’s Delight, also won her upstate sire stakes event as a prohibitive favorite. She had misbehaved in her two previous starts. Tim Lanpher trains for owner Larry Lanpher. Like Eagle Way, All Spirit is 4-for-10 this season. Both ladies won their respective NYSS events here in June.

Friday night’s third ($54,056) Rye grouping includes Six Of Hearts (Bartlett, post seven), with three wins in her last four starts, while the final ($54,056) division sees Artist’s Rendition (Stephane Bouchard, post six), an 11-1 upsetter in the last NYSS event go-round here in June.
