NYSS trotters head to Buffalo

by Jon Cramer, for Buffalo Raceway

Hamburg, NY — Wednesday night’s (June 22) 13-race card at Buffalo Raceway features a sextuplet of New York Sire Stakes for 3-year-old colt trotters. Total purses of over $150,000 will be on the line in the six divisions.

The feature race will be the eighth race as four of the seven entrants have already captured a Sire Stakes victory this season. Trainer Ray Schnittkerā€™s Whitewater Rapids and Dream Lake for owner-trainer Don Wiest took their divisions at Monticello, while Sing Out from the George Teague, Jr. barn and Petruchio, trained by Linda Toscano, won at Yonkers last week.

In the fourth race, start of the mid-double, Major Skirmish for trainer-driver Dan Daley will look to recapture the form he had at Buffalo as a 2-year-old when he finished second, his best of the year. Also in the fourth is All In Tad who has two second place finishes in NYSS action this year.

The second half of the mid-double has a pair of locally trained horses. Turtle Express, trained by Bobbi Martin, and Serious George from the Rich Mays stable will look for some home track advantage. The Credit Winner colt Keenan, who has taken each of his two NYSS divisions, drew the far outside seven hole.

The three other divisions are carded as races 2, 7 and 10.
