Offutt drives to Rosecroft feature win on his birthday

Fort Washington, MD – Timmy Offutt celebrated his 39th birthday in grand style with a driving double including steering Hickory Aloha to a win in the $10,000 Open at Rosecroft Raceway on Sunday night (May 9).

Offutt sent his speedster right to the front and never looked back leading the field through fractions of :27.1, :57, 1:25.1 and stopped the timer in 1:53.2 at odds of 19-1. It was the third win in his last five starts and career win number 35 for the 9-year old son of Village Jolt owned and trained by Joe Offutt.

In Maryland Sires Stakes action, Russell Foster and Wowie Zowie made it 7 for 10 lifetime as she set a new lifetime mark in 3-year old fillies action in 1:55.2. The daughter of Cam’s Rocket went gate to wire to pick up her first win in two starts this year for trainer Megan Foster.

In the second division for fillies, the rapidly improving Samantha’s All In, was indeed all in, ducking to the passing lane in the stretch to go by stablemate Madisonsallin, scoring in 1:54.3 for John Wagner. It was the first win in 12 starts for the daughter of Rusty’s All In, trained by Wagner for Owner/Breeder Tammy Crescenze.

In the solo division for sophomore pacing colts, Real Made, a son of Rusty’s For Real, rallied with a big brush down the backside to defeat the favorite and pace setter Harvey’s All In, winning in 1:54 for Allan Davis. It was the second career win and new lifetime mark for the home bred of Dale Hall Jr., who won last fall’s $45,000 final.

In action before the betting card started, Pride Of Windswept kept up her dominance among 3-year old filly trotters, winning by nine lengths in 1:58 for driver Corey Callahan. Shaun Callahan trains the daughter of Charlie De Vie for John and Sarah Swart. She is now 9 for 11 lifetime and has never lost in MDSS competition.

In the Colt Division, Jim Morand and Funnyfunnyriddle held off a late surge from Whitesville Tug in 2:00.3. The son of Lockkeeper is now 7 for 11 lifetime and 3 for 4 this year for trainer Les Givens who conditions for Nanticoke Racing Inc., Jim Magno and Joseph Fonte.

Driver Jonathan Roberts took three races on the night.
