OHHA Project Coordinator position available

Columbus, OH — The Project Coordinator will be a full-time, at will position, have primary responsibility for and be the primary contact with the individual fairs in the Ohio Fair Racing Conference.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with and oversee the Regional Fair Coordinators. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the USTA, OSRC, and OFMA to present harness racing at Ohio County and Independent Fairs. The Project Coordinator will also participate in marketing, charity, and outreach events to promote harness racing in Ohio, and serve in a back-up supporting role to the OHHA office.

Qualifications:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Computer skills to include competent proficiency in all MS Office Products and E-Track.
3. Knowledge of Ohio horse racing, including applicable Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, and Ohio State Racing Commission Rules related to Standardbred racing.
4. Knowledge of and ability to manage county/independent fair racing.
5. Knowledge of the staking and entry process for county/independent fair racing.
6. Knowledge of and ability to create racing programs.
7. Knowledge of racing official duties and qualified people to fill those roles.
8. Ability to work well with others and to be a self-starter
9. Ability to travel. You should be prepared and able to travel to all regions of the state, with some overnight stays, mainly in the summer months, but throughout the year for Fair Board Meetings, OFMA, Farm Bureau, and other related meetings. The balance of your time will be spent in the Columbus office.

Job Duties:
1. Respond to fair inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically or in person.
2. Ensure customer service satisfaction and good client relationships and follow up on fair activity.
3. Ensure that fairs have signed the appropriate documents to participate in the Ohio Fair Racing Conference.
4. Work with the fairs to select race dates and obtain the necessary permits required to conduct the races.
5. Assist fairs in writing the conditions for stake and overnight races.
6. Collect appropriate information for the staking guide.
7. Collect the appropriate information for the Huff’s Guide.
8. Confirm with fairs that contracts with race officials and support staff are in place.
9. Provide fairs with their nomination numbers for their stake races.
10. Take entries for all races at the fairs.
11. Calculate purses for each of the races.
12. Using E-track complete a printer-ready program for the fair.
13. Send the program to the printer selected by the fair. (Note: Fairs maintain the responsibility to secure local sponsors for their program.)
14. Provide fairs with the required information so that they are able to process 1099s for their fairs.
15. Provide consulting services to fairs as requested.
16. Develop and maintain a tracking system to determine year-end honors.
17. Coordinate an annual year-end banquet to honor driver, trainer, and horse of the year awards.
18. Organize and conduct regional meetings of fair board members, horsemen and harness racing fans to seek input on the Ohio Fair Racing Conference.
19. Attend meetings of the Ohio Fair Racing Conference Board of Directors.
20. Work with the Communications Director in developing and executing programs to promote harness racing.
21. Assist the OHHA Office or Executive Director in any other tasks as needed.
