Ohio Sire Stakes sophomore colts to race on Saturday at Northfield

Northfield, OH — Saturday concludes consecutive days of Ohio Sire Stakes racing at Northfield Park. Following sophomore filly pacers and trotters on Friday (August 17), both 3-year old colt and gelding pacers and trotters will compete on Saturday.

The action begins in race one in a $16,500 pace division. Jetstream Friskie (Feelin Friskie-Isn’t She Cute-Beach Towel) is the 2-1 morning line favorite for owner James Wampler. The colt’s trainer, Joe Essig, has enlisted Kayne Kauffman to drive. Jetstream Friskie makes his 11th start of 2012. He has seven career victories and earnings of nearly $50,000. He just posted his lifetime mark of 1:52.3 at Scioto Downs in his most recent race. Jetstream Friskie will start from post four.

Also entered in the first division are Mr I Am, Tatas Flash, Feelin Cornered and Lol Ken Win.

Race two will be the $18,000 first division for 3-year-old Ohio-bred colt and gelding trotters. Northfield Park Wall of Fame trainer Marty Wollam will start Count Me In (Full Count-Howl-Overcomer) as the 5-2 morning line favorite. Count Me In starts from post one with Sam “Chip” Noble III scheduled to drive for owners Patricia Wollam and Acadia Farms, Inc. Count Me In has 20 career starts and is looking for his 10th victory. His career earnings of $110,218 include a 1:56.1 win at Scioto Downs.

Count Me In’s six rivals will be Willie Bay, Countmymuscles, Blazing Future, Master’s Fly Trap, Rockin H Cheery O and Jailbird Jesse.

Sophomore colt and gelding pacers return to the stage to compete in race three for the $16,500 second division of the Ohio Sire Stakes. Gun Show (Feelin Friskie-Cagey Myrt-Set The Style) is the 5-2 morning line favorite for owners Milton Leeman and Dustin Arledge. Ryan Stahl has been named to drive by trainer Jim Arledge, Jr. With seven career victories, a lifetime mark of 1:52.4 and earnings of $106,826, the favored gelding scores from the rail in his 16th career start.

He faces Larry’s Dream, Noble Trick, Friskies Cheapsuit, Duke Uh Brava and Man He Can Scoot.

Race nine is the final Ohio Sire Stake race of the evening, featuring the $18,000 second division for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters. Rock N Jesse (Jailhouse Jesse-Just Plain Denise-Overcomer) ships in for trainer Ron Burke and will start as the 2-1 morning line favorite. Burke has named Tony Hall to drive for owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Howard Taylor and Slaughter Racing Stable. This gelding has four career victories and earnings of $86,919.

Rock N Jesse starts from post five in a talented field of rivals consisting of Captain Jesse, Cody Coy, We Belong Together, Its Jesse Time, Jesse’s Touch, Rose Run Nolan and Al Brown.

Saturday’s post time is 7 p.m.
