Ohio Sires Stake sophomore fillies take the stage Friday

Northfield, OH — Northfield Park will host Ohio Sires Stake races for 3-year-old fillies of both gaits on Friday (August 17).

Sophomore fiily trotters will lead off Friday’s show in a $ 17,000 Ohio Sires Stakes division. Rose Run Nellie (Trainforthefuture-Lilyad-Armbro Iliad) is the morning line favorite in the opener for owner Scott Cox Stable. Cox is also the filly’s trainer and driver.

Rose Run Nellie makes her 13th start of 2012. She has nine career victories and earnings of nearly $50,000. Rose Run Nellie will start from post three.

Also entered in the first division are Bosco’s Angel, Yankee’s Victory, Cinca De Miya, Jessica Rayne and Tesla.

Race three will be the $17,200 first division for 3-year-old Ohio-bred filiy pacers. Trainer Jim Ariedge, Jr. will start Standing Danette, a Stand Forever filly as the 2-1 morning line favorite. Standing Danette starts from post one with Dan Noble scheduled to drive for owner Sharon Edelman.

Standing Danette’s five rivals wili be Friskie Beauty, Buckeye Beauty, Wind River Cat, Let’sgoalltheway and Forever Lover.

Sophomore filly trotters return to the stage to compete in race five for the $17,100 second division of the Ohio Sire Stakes. The Jailhouse Jesse filly Wardon’s Daughter is the 2-1 morning line favorite for owners Ryan Stahl and Richard Smith. Stahl also drives Warden’s Daughter for trainer Nichole Gagnon. With six career victories, a lifetime mark of 1:57.4 and earnings of $66,121, the favored filly scores from the rail in her 18th career start.

She faces Lady At Bat, Rose Run Natassia, Annie’s Master, Easter Rosetta, Sandy’s Star and TT’s Tater Chip.

Race eight is the final Ohio Sires Stake race of the evening, featuring the $17,200 second division for 3-year-old filly pacers. Special Lady D, by Stand Forever, ships in for trainer Brian Brown. Brown has named Ryan Stahl to drive for owner William Robinson. This filly has three straight victories and career winnings of nearly $100,000. Special Lady D starts from post four in a talented field of rivals consisting of B Mobile, Kannon’s Flash, Little Friskie, Kates Beer Bunny, Royalness and Feelin Rosie.

Friday’s first race post time is 7 p.m.
