Ohio SRC seeks foster homes

from the Ohio Standardbred Retirement Connection

Columbus, OH — The Ohio Standardbred Retirement Connection, LLC is getting inundated with phone calls from horsemen wanting to find adoptive homes for their retired Standardbreds.

The Ohio SRC was founded with great thought and foresight to meet the specific needs of the Standardbreds of Ohio.

“We will continually refine our mission and goals to be sure we are serving the harness men and women of Ohio and their horses for the betterment of everyone involved. We would like to consider ourselves a voice for the breed and help raise awareness of how wonderful the breed is both on and off the track,” says Kelly Thomas, one of the directors of the Ohio SRC.

Those involved with the Ohio SRC have over 50 years experience with the breed in all aspects from breeding and racing to welcoming them into their homes as family pets, show horses, trail horses and babysitters for new riders. They have a multitude of stories to share and are very committed to the breed on and off the race track.

“We’ve gotten together because we feel that even though there are other similar organizations and groups out there supporting the breed, we believe there is a need for a ‘connection’ between the Ohio harness men and women and adoptive families looking for a new horse, hence the name Ohio Standardbred Retirement Connection,” says Thomas.

Please consider adopting or becoming a foster home for one of these wonderful horses.

“Because of the many phone calls we are receiving concerning horses needing homes, we are in desperate need of adoptive or foster homes,” added Thomas.
