From Scioto Downs Racino

Columbus, OH — Ohio State Fair races for 2&3-year olds in their respective divisions will be contested on Friday (August 1) and Saturday (August 2). First race post time is 6:30 p.m.

Friday’s 13-race card will shine the spotlight on the Ohio bred 2-year-olds for each gait and sex. The skilled freshman will race for abundant purses in nine races on the program.

Highlighting their divisions will be undefeated 2-year-old colt pacer, Gray Camo trained by Ron Burke, 2-year-old filly trotter, Sunrise Nibbles for Christopher Beaver and 2-year-old filly pacer, Bell Flower for her new conditioner, Jim Arledge Jr.

Saturday’s 14-race program will feature the talented 3-year-old filly and colt trotters and pacers. The 3-year-olds make up six races on the card, including the one division of 11, 3-year-old colt trotters. The trotting superstar, Rompaway Galaxy will start from post eight with driver Mike Micallef and is the 6-5 morning line favorite. The full field will be chasing after a $90,000 purse.

The 3-year-old filly trotters also have only one division for all the chips. They will race for a bounty of $87,000 and be a full field of 11.

Sandys Victory and Josh Sutton are the tepid 3-1 morning line favorite and will start from post six. This filly is coming off an impressive Sire Stakes victory in 1:57.2 for trainer and partial owner, Larry Tinch.

Along with the exciting racing action on Friday and Saturday, Scioto Downs will also have a Driver Autograph session on Friday. Drivers will be in the grandstands starting at 5:45 p.m. until 6:20 p.m. Then on Saturday night, Scioto Downs will be giving away free cups with the purchase of your live racing program and have carnival games for the kids set-up on the grandstand apron. The proceeds will benefit The Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
