ORC issues clarification on OSS #41

from the Ontario Racing Commission

Toronto, ON — The program administrator of the Ontario Sires Stakes program wishes to clarify information currently circulating in the industry.

The May 15 deadline for nominating Standardbred yearlings to the Ontario Sires Stakes program has not been cancelled or deferred at this time.

Yearling nomination payments currently being received by the program are being accepted and processed.

The only action taken by the program administrator at this time has been to send the following statement to the USTA to meet their deadline for publishing in the 2012 USTA Yearling Nomination Booklet:

  • Ontario Sires Stakes notice to owners of Ontario sired yearlings The Ontario Sires Stakes program administrator is examining the changing circumstances in Ontario to determine the impact on the Ontario Sires Stakes program. Further details will be released as they become available.

Normally, the conditions for OSS #41 would have appeared in the USTA Yearling Nomination Booklet. Published conditions include the details of the program that would be offered for these horses in 2013 and 2014.

Given the changing circumstances, the administrator was not prepared to issue conditions at this time to meet the USTA’s publication deadline.

Any participant with questions about the Ontario Sires Stakes program should contact the program administrator directly at 416.213.0520.
