OSRC hearing on rules scheduled

by Marty Evans, for the Ohio State Racing Commission

Columbus, OH — Chairman Robert K. Schmitz said during the recent meeting of the Ohio State Racing Commission that the agency’s administrative rules under review this year should be addressed in a public meeting before the commission considers whether to amend or rescind any of them.

By law, the racing commission must examine 20 per cent of its administrative rules each year. Almost 200 rules will be evaluated this year.

When he announced this on June 26, he added that input should also be sought from the public.

A hearing on the rules is scheduled on Wednesday, July 16, in Room 1948 of the Riffe Center at 10 am. The Riffe Center is located at 77 S. High St. in Columbus.

In addition to the public, commission members, racing officials and horsemen are expected to attend.
