OSS 2-year-old colt trot rescheduled

by Karen Hauver, OSS Administration Coordinator

Toronto, ON — The cancellation of the races at Mohawk Racetrack by Woodbine Entertainment Group on Thursday (July 21) due to the extreme heat wave hitting Ontario caused the cancellation of the Ontario Sires Stake Gold eliminations for 2-year-old colt trotters scheduled for that day.

According to the decision of the Program Administrator, the event is considered cancelled and has now been rescheduled at Mohawk Racetrack with the eliminations taking place on August 19 and the final on August 26.

The delay in rescheduling the event is necessary to accommodate the current OSS schedule, which has the third Gold event for the 2- year-old trotters being contested at Rideau Carleton Raceway on August 5 and 12.

As a result of the amount of time between the original scheduled race and the new date, this event is considered a new event and will be open to all horses. Please note that any horse that was entered into the original event will be required to be re-entered. Participants are advised that because this is a make-up event, the association with Grassroots #2 at Clinton Raceway on July 24 no longer exists, and therefore, any horse that contested that Grassroots event in now eligible to enter in this rescheduled Gold event in August.

Participants are advised that, as with any decision of the Director, Judges or Administration of the Ontario Racing Commission, you or any other aggrieved person can appeal this decision of the Program Administrator to the Commission and are entitled to a hearing.
