OSS Super Finals drawn

Toronto, ON — Over C$2.4 million will be at stake this Saturday (Nov. 12) at Woodbine Racetrack as eight C$300,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals go to post, featuring the province’s top pacers and trotters.

The 2- and 3-year-olds competing in the Gold eliminations and finals throughout the season accumulate points based on performance and the top point earners are eligible to compete in the rich finals on Nov. 12.

Warrawee Needy, Monkey On My Wheel, Daylon Magician, Prodigal Seelster and Circles will all highlight their respective divisions.

Trainer and co-owner Carl Jamieson will not be present when Warrawee Needy lines up behind the gate in his division (2-year-old colt pace), but the veteran trainer wouldn’t be surprised if his rookie crossed the wire first.

Jamieson will remain in Florida over the winter months developing his younger horses for next season.

Warrawee Needy has banked nearly $400,000 as a freshman.

Warrawee Needy has established himself as the top Ontario-sired freshman pacer this season, leading with 357 points in the provincial program. The son of E Dee’s Cam-Great Memories has amassed $389,950 in earnings with a lifetime best of 1:49.4 taken in his most recent outing, an Ontario Sires Stakes record.

“I wasn’t surprised by that at all,” Jamieson said of Warrawee Needy’s record. “To be honest, I think he could have gone more. He did it all on his own with no urging.”

Warrawee Needy, a $20,000 yearling purchase in 2010 from the Forest City Yearling Sale, boasts a record of 8-1-1 from 12 lifetime starts for Jamieson, along with Thomas Kyron, Floyd Marshall and breeder Dr. Michael Wilson.

Saturday evening will mark the final start of the season for Warrawee Needy as he begins from post two in a short field of six.

“He’s as ready as he can be,” Jamieson said. “He won’t get trained much this week because my assistant trainer, Matt Kitchen, took him to Mohawk this past Saturday to go a good training mile.”

Warrawee Needy will likely be the heavy favorite again. Jamieson remains optimistic.

“They all get beat,” he said. “Every good or great horse out there gets beat. My horse shouldn’t on Saturday, but it’s a horse race and anything can happen.”
