from the USTA Communications Department

Columbus, OH — Owen W. “Junior” Franklin, 52, a lifelong resident of South Jersey, died May 25, 2010.

Mr. Franklin was a devoted horseman of 20 years and an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed attending drag racing events.

For a small second generation horseman with a limited stable, 2009 became a banner year for Mr. Franklin as his stable enjoyed career highs in both wins and earnings.

Throughout the years, he raced at tracks in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland. He truly did what he loved; other than his family, the horses were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Adrianne “Anne”; parents, Charles and Evelyn “Betty”; children, Tabitha (Brian) Krzewinski, Joe (Christen) and Craig; stepson, Joseph-Michael Clifton; sister, Betty Joyce Hiles; and granddaughter, Jenna.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 29, at 2 p.m. at Canton Baptist Church, Salem, N.J., where friends may call after 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 626 N. Shore Road, Absecon, NJ 08201.
