East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands and the Hambletonian Society are teaming up to present the “Own A Horse — Hambletonian Edition.”

Registration opens Friday (June 1) and runs through (Saturday) June 30. On Sunday (July 1), 25 contestants will be selected and paired with a likely Hambletonian heat participant. The contestant that is paired with the colt or filly that wins the 2018 Hambletonian final will win $5,000.

More than $4,000 was given away in Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment’s May Own a Horse contest. Five of the 10 contestants came out to the Meadowlands to watch their horse in person and brought friends and family with them.

Montalbano Bi provided the most lucrative payout for one of his “owners” — Michele Grusser — who walked away with $692.

“This was really fun, I had a great time,” said Grusser, of Edgewater, N.J. “I have told a lot of people about this wonderful promotion.”
