Washington, PA — Pace Baby Pace won a spirited stretch-long duel with Diamondtequilashot and captured Tuesday’s (Oct. 6) $17,900 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Pace Baby Pace idled outside before grabbing the point, where Dave Palone was able to give her a :30 second-quarter breather. That left the 4-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou and Breakheart Pass with plenty in the tank to down Diamondtequilashot by a head in 1:52.3. Beach Bar completed the ticket.

Pace Baby Pace won for the eighth time this year and lifted her career earnings to $174,961 for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Jim Pantaleano and Burke collected three wins apiece on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday (Oct. 7), when the 13-race program features a $54,566.34 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
