Dover, DE — Vic Kirby waited until the homestretch to unleash Panfully Cool and the 5-year-old responded with his second straight victory, a 1:52.3 mile on Sunday at Dover Downs. For driver Kirby, it was one of his three wins during the card.
In the $11,500 male pace, Panfully Cool blitzed down the lane from far back to notch a victory for trainer Jim King and owners JoAnn King and Tom Kemp. Manhattan Rusty N (Eric Carlson) was second with Broadies Song (Brad Hanners) the third finisher. The Panderosa-Bell Bottom Pans gelding is now two for four this year.
In similar fashion, Idealist, piloted by Jim Morand, flew down the stretch to score a 1:52.2 win in the $20,000 male claiming pace. Trained by Louise Kinsey for Bill and Barbara Kinsey, the veteran Western Ideal-Carolache gelding scored his second win of 2013 and raised his lifetime bankroll to $268,523.
Driver Eric Carlson enjoyed his biggest day since moving to Dover Downs this season by recording four wins.
