Party In Pink gets Lighting Lane win in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Party In Pink stalked patiently from the pocket, then roared through the Lightning Lane to capture Thursday’s (July 7) feature at The Meadows, a $10,300 distaff conditioned pace.

Party In Pink seized the early lead from post seven, but was content to release Horizon at the quarter. While that one had more outside challengers than she could handle, Anthony MacDonald steered Party In Pink inside, where she scored in 1:53.1. Somemiki Hanover finished second, three-quarters of a length back, while Gottaluvit Hanover rallied for show.

Kevin Johnson trains the winner, a 3-year-old daughter of Well Said-Pink Is Perfect, for Bay Pond Racing Stable and Rebecca Williams.

MacDonald collected three wins on the 11-race card, including a pair for trainer Tim Twaddle.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (July 8), when the program features a pair of events for freshman pacing fillies: a $165,755 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and an $80,000 Pennsylvania Stallion Series event. On the wagering front, the 12-race card offers a $13,803.66 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5 as well as a $609.89 carryover in the Jackpot Pick-5 (races 4-8). First post is 5:10 p.m.
