Paulann “Polly” Sidley, 86, dies

Columbus, OH — Paulann “Polly” Sidley, age 86, passed away Nov. 24, 2022, surrounded by her family, at Tri-Point Medical Center, in Concord Township, Ohio.

She was born April 7, 1936, in Bellevue, Pa., to Paul Hunter Fisk and Naomi (Dillon) Fisk. Mrs. Sidley attended Mars (Pa.) High School and graduated from Lake Erie College, in Painesville Ohio, in 1959. She went on to become a medical technologist (ASCP certified) at Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburgh. In 1958, she married Robert C. Sidley, whom she met while at Lake Erie College. They were married for 64 years.

Mrs. Sidley is survived by her two sons: Robert P. (Sandra) and Michael (Geta); six grandchildren, Cassandra (Aaron Shenker), Caitlin (Cristian Rosu), Robert L. (Jessica Noll) Sidley, and Robert (Pamela), Michael (Kimberly) and Alan (Jess) Calkins; great-grandchildren, Remme, Reed, Rowe, Zelda, Elizabeth and Ethan.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Sidley was a member of Painesville United Methodist Church. She was active in the Western Reserve Junior Service League from 1962-1976 and was chairman of the Red Stocking Revue in 1970 and 1972.

Mrs. Sidley and her husband, Robert, raised horses. They owned and operated Northern Farms in Painesville for many years. They also had a racing stable and raced their horses in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Indiana.

She was the 2009 Lady Pace honoree at the Delaware County Fair.

Mrs. Sidley loved wine, shopping and working outside in her garden. She was an animal lover and would do anything for anyone in need.

Family and friends will be received from 3-8 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 2) at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 3) at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State St., in Painesville. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
