PC’s Vixen follows cover to victory in Meadows series

by Evan Pattak for The Meadows

Washington, PA PC’s Vixen followed live cover and used it effectively to capture Friday’s $17,500 second leg of the Do Me Honor Pace for 3-year-old fillies at The Meadows. The second leg was contested in a single division, with all eight participants eligible for the championship on Friday, April 24. First post that day is 6:55 p.m..

PC’s Vixen endured a nightmarish trip in the opening leg, when she was parked the entire mile and intermittently rough gaited. But she moved confidently from fifth down the backside for Eric Goodell to pick up the cover of Somewhere Fameous. The daughter of Art-Official-R Burning Desire had plenty left in the lane, scoring in a career-best 1:55.2. Opening-leg winner One Over Par was second, a neck back, while Dobre Povedane rallied for show.

Aaron Merriman and Dave Palone each piloted three winners on the 12-race card.
