Penzance Hanover is victorious at Dover Downs

Dover, DE — Penzance Hanover won the $32,500 Open/Preferred Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday (Feb. 24).

Penzance Hanover and Movin’ On Up played tag trading leads going to the quarter. Driver Art Stafford Jr. and Penzance Hanover reclaimed the lead for good past the three-eights marker.

Penzance Hanover set fractions of :26.2, :54.4, and 1:22.3 while Island Of The Sea moved first up past the half. The 6-5 race favorite, Let It Ride N, shadowed second over on the rim. Corey Callahan then sent Let It Ride N three-wide at the top of the stretch but ran out of real estate at the wire.

Penzance Hanover remained strong in the stretch and won by a half-length in 1:50.3. He paid $5.60 for the win. Movin’ On Up sat in the pocket and finished second for driver Tim Tetrick. Let It Ride N was third.

Penzance Hanover (Somebeachsomewhere) is owned, trained and driven by Art Stafford Jr.

Tim Tetrick and George Napolitano Jr. both won four races on the card.
