PEO Mixed Sale closes Wednesday

Briarcliff Manor, NY — Entries for the inaugural Preferred Equine Online mixed sale close Wednesday (Feb. 23) at the end of business hours. Those planning to consign may enter horses on the sales company’s website, preferredequineonline.com.

The sale roster will be posted on the website Thursday (Feb. 24). Initial bidding can begin starting Friday (Feb. 25) at 3 p.m.

The sale itself will be conducted Monday (Feb. 28), with bidding on the first hip number closing at 3 p.m. Thereafter, the remaining lots will be sold in hip number order, in timed increments.

Sale manager David Reid said his company’s foray into online sales comes at a perfect time to introduce the digital platform to customers during a quiet period on the traditional in-person sales calendar.

“One thing that’s very important is the website was designed so customers will find the entire process of signing up and conducting trade as easy as one-two-three,” he said. “It’s presented in a very professional manner and was built with step-by-step instructions that makes everything seamless and easy to follow.”

The site uses a simple sales entry process that includes a USTA horse search to enhance accuracy and efficiency. In addition to live pedigrees and past performances, sellers may upload high resolution photos, links to race videos, and documents such as vet reports and x-rays.

The system allows ownership percentages for easy sales disbursements. Horses entered will utilize the USTA’s “E-Sales” platform to release and sign transfers. PEO will collect payment from the purchaser and then distribute proceeds directly to sellers.

PEO’s sister company, Preferred Equine Marketing, has been the industry’s leader in both yearling and mixed sales since its very beginning, and the synergy between the two outfits makes this an exciting venture, Reid said.

“Not only was this an opportunity to leverage our brand; it was the right move to increase trade industry-wide and create selling and buying opportunities on a more frequent basis.

“We’re fortunate to have the resources within the company — and with our enormous customer base — to take trade to a whole new level.”

Preferred Equine Online will announce its next sale at the conclusion of the Feb. 28 auction.
