Toronto, ON — Woodbine Entertainment Group today announced that 59 horses have been nominated to the 30th edition of the C$1 million Pepsi North America Cup, Canada’s richest harness racing event.

The one-mile pace for 3-year-olds, set for Mohawk Racetrack, is scheduled for Saturday (June 15).

Headlining the 2013 crop of nominees is Captaintreacherous (eight wins and career earnings of $918,253), the champion 2-year-old in both Canada and the United States last year for trainer Tony Alagna.

The bay son of 2008 Pepsi North America Cup champion Somebeachsomewhere captured both the Metro Pace at Mohawk and the Woodrow Wilson Pace at the Meadowlands, before finishing third in the Breeders Crown at Woodbine.

Rockin Amadeus (three wins, $455,440), who delivered the ‘Crown’ upset, and Wake Up Peter (two wins, $290,230), who finished second in the race, are also being pointed to the ‘Cup.’

Others named to the race that may be noted on a Top 10 list of contenders include Odds On Equuleus (five wins, $417,534) and Apprentice Hanover (five wins, $266,998).

Two sustaining payments for the race are due on April 15 and May 15.

The Pepsi North America Cup eliminations, worth C$50,000 each, are set for Saturday (June 8).
