Campbellville, ON — For the second start in a row, 4-year-old trotting mare Perfect Alliance established a new track record on the WEG circuit.

In the first elimination of the Armbro Flight Stakes on Friday (June 6) at Mohawk, Perfect Alliance scored a 6-1/2 length win in a track record clocking of 1:51.4 for driver Yannick Gingras, trainer Julie Miller and the ownership group of Little E LLC, Jason Settlemoir and Arthur Geiger.

The track record performance followed up the world, Canadian and track record of 1:51.2 she set at Woodbine back on May 19.

Perfect Alliance cleared to the front early in :27 and Gingras never looked back, sitting motionless in the bike allowing the daughter of Credit Winner to cruise to her 13th lifetime win. Rockin With Dewey finished second while Bax Of Life was third. Upfrontluckycarol and Lady Laker finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to secure spots in next week’s final.

Julie Miller, trainer of Perfect Alliance, liked what she saw from her star filly.

“Yannick Gingras drove her perfect. He said she had plenty left in the tank, so we are pretty excited by her.”

Now a perfect 11 for 11 on the season, Perfect Alliance boosts her earnings to more than $120,000 for 2014.

The second elimination saw D’Orsay and driver Sylvain Filion deliver a 54-1 upset.

D’Orsay scored at odds of 54-1 in the second elimination.

Classic Martine and Tim Tetrick got the lead early and controlled the tempo throughout with odds-on choice Bee A Magician sitting second.

In the final quarter, Classic Martine and Bee A Magician hooked up in a duel, but after following along in third, D’Oay went three wide and unleashed a wicked final kick to get past her two rivals in the final strides and win in 1:52.1.

The 5-year-old daughter of Yankee Glide turned in a blistering :26.2 final quarter to pick up her first victory of the season for trainer Jonas Czernyson and owner Consus Racing Stable of Hamilton, N.J.

Filion said after the race he wasn’t expecting such a big final quarter from his mare.

“Those two mares in front of us are pretty good, but my mare was able to relax tonight so I knew she was going to kick home pretty good,” said Filion. “But I didn’t expect that.”

Bee A Magician finished second, just a quarter of a length ahead of Classic Martine in third. Charmed Life got up for fourth, while Angies Lucky Star was the final mare to advance to the final with a fifth place finish.

The C$266,000 Armbro Flight final will take place on Saturday (June 14) as part of Pepsi North America Cup night.

The two elimination winners were able to select their post positions for the final.

The field for the final will line up as follows: 1. Lady Laker, 2. Bax Of Life, 3. D’Orsay, 4. Perfect Alliance, 5. Classic Martine, 6. Upfrontluckycarol, 7. Rockin With Dewey, 8. Charmed Life, 9. Bee A Magician, 10. Angies Lucky Star, AE: Ma Chere Hall.
