Trixton was a 1:53.3 winner for Jimmy Takter.

Driven by trainer Jimmy Takter, Trixton was parked out for the first three-eighths of the mile before clearing to the front. Once on the lead, Trixton and Takter were untouchable, winning by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:53.3 with an easy-looking :27.2 last quarter.

The victory was the fourth in a row for the son of Muscle Hill and eighth of his career. The win pushes Trixton over $100,000 in earnings this season for owners Brixton Medical Ab and Christina Takter.

Jimmy Takter said the colt felt powerful in cruising to victory.

“He’s a big horse and he has a very effective way of going and they cover a lot of ground,” said Takter. “It took a little while to get him right; big horses take a little longer time to develop. He’s just a fantastic horse.”

Harper Blue Chip, who had the early lead before allowing Trixton to clear, finished second. Speak The Truth finished third, while See The Wind and Pasadena Star were the final two to advance to next week’s final.

In the first elimination, Flyhawk El Durado and Yannick Gingras won in a lifetime best 1:54.1.

Flyhawk El Durado came first up at Skates N Plates heading towards the three-quarter pole and was able to seize the lead at the top of the stretch. Entranced spoiled a second over trip by making a break on the turn.

Gingras opened up a big lead down the lane and had the son of Conway Hall wrapped up at the wire by three-quarters of a length, with Il Sogno Dream charging late for second. Verdi closed with a :28.1 last quarter for third. Massacaia finished fourth and Massive Talent finished fifth to advance to next week’s final.

The victory was the second of the season and fifth of the career for Flyhawk El Durado, who shipped up to Mohawk into the care of trainer Jeff Gillis for owner Martin Scharf.

The Goodtimes elimination was the first time Gingras had sat behind the colt and he was happy with the effort.

“He’s very quick. Leaving the gate he was going as fast as he could; the first eighth was 13 seconds and I was grabbing him up and letting everybody cross over,” said Gingras. “They had decent fractions up front and he was really game first up.”

The C$272,100 Goodtimes final will take place on Pepsi North America Cup night, Saturday (June 14). The elimination winners, both heavy public choices, were able to select their post positions for the final.

The field will line up as follows for next week’s final: 1. See The Wind, 2. Massacaia, 3. Verdi, 4. Flyhawk El Durado, 5. Trixton, 6. Massive Talent, 7. Pasadena Star, 8. Il Sogno Dream, 9. Speak The Truth, 10. Harper Blue Chip, AE: Raise The Curtain.
