Northfield, OH — Jack Shearer’s Polo Jenn took Friday’s (Feb. 23) $8,000 Mares Open Pace at Northfield Park, posting a comfortable 1:56.3, 3-3/4 length win for driver Ryan Stahl and trainer Jeff Cox.

The 7-year-old Polo Player mare, who became her sire’s richest offspring earlier this month, defeated Martz Creek Danty and Look To Book as driver Stahl posted a double on the evening. She has earned $195,699, with $19,050 coming in her seven 2007 starts.

Aaron Merriman, John D. Wengerd and Troy Boring matched Stahl with two driving wins, but Elliott Deaton led the way with three winners.

On Saturday (Feb. 24), Deaton steered Perfect Door to a 1:55.4 win in the $10,500 Invitational, with Key Western second and Western Empire third.

The Ohio-bred son of Threefold, owned by Shirley Otto and trained by her husband, Jim, won for the eighth time this year and pushed his career earnings to $76,140.

Aaron Merriman and Andy Shetler each posted three wins Saturday, but Ryan Stahl posted the most impressive mile when he piloted Oozie’s Bad Boy to a gate-to-wire, 1:53.2 win in his second start after being claimed by Steve Cetinsky.
