Petticoat Pacing Series begins with chalky quintet

Yonkers, NY — Yonkers Raceway’s stakes season began Monday night (March 10) with the opening round of the Petticoat Pacing Series.

The series, for 3- and 4-year-old young ladies who were non-winners of four races or $40,000 through last Dec. 1, attracted five $12,500 divisions and those five divisions played favorites.

The winners were:

  • A Sham of Amber, 4 (by Riverboat King); owner Stephen Herrick/trainer Luanne Case/driver Jason Bartlett; 1:55.1/$3.90;
  • Road Bet, 4 (by Bettor’s Delight); owner W J Donovan/trainer Chris Ryder/driver George Brennan; 1:54.3/$4.10;
  • Hobe Sound, 4 (by Somebeachsomewhere); co-owners (trainer) Andrew Harris, Evan Katz, Seth Fried/driver Brian Sears; 1:55.3/$2.10;
  • My Shyen, 4 (by American Ideal); co-owners (trainer) Rene Allard (Allard Racing) and Yves Sarazin/driver Sears: 1:58/$2.90;
  • Macharoundtheclock, 4 (by Mach Three); owner-breeder Birnam Wood Farms/trainer Larry Remmen/driver Sears; 1:56/$2.20.

The boys take their turn Tuesday night, with eight $12,500 divisions of the Sagamore Hill Pacing Series, also for 3- and 4-year-olds.

The Raceway’s five night per week live schedule continues, with first post every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:10 p.m. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available daily.
