Chester, PA — Earl Beal, Jr., President of the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association, announced that a total of $225,000 in consolation races have been added on two key dates at Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack.

Two big races get consolations on September 20: the $600,000 Governor’s Cup, a 2-year-old colt pace, and the $500,000 Three Diamonds, a 2-year-old filly pace. The purse for the Governor’s Cup consolation is $75,000 and the purse for the Three Diamonds consolation is $50,000.

In addition, on September 6, two races will each get a $50,000 consolation: the $450,000 Goldsmith Maid, a 2-year-old filly trot and the $450,000 Valley Victory, a 2-year-old colt trot.

“Races like these attract the best of the best,” said Mr. Beal, “but after a series of discussions with Harrah’s race secretary Rick C. Kane, it became clear that some really great horses would probably fall just slightly short of the first tier. Working together, we created the consolations to provide an opportunity for those horses to compete as part of two outstanding cards. They will also add to the excitement of two race dates that were already highly anticipated.”
