Noble kept Pine Chip nose-to-helmet behind the 4-5 favorite through modest :28.1, :58 and 1:26.1 fractions before angling off the pylons an eighth of a mile from the finish line and collaring I Know My Chip with less than 100 yards to go.

Northmedo Mission (Aaron Merriman) hugged the pylons throughout the mile as well and finished third.

The winner, a 7-year-old son of Pinetucky, paid $10.20 on the occasion of his eighth seasonal win, raising his earnings for the year over $130,000. Merv Chupp conditions the 33-time career winner for Chupp Racing Stable Inc., which includes his wife Kelly, who was celebrating a birthday.
