Pink Pistol collects her second win of the season in Kawartha Down’s signature event, the Goodtimes Invitational Trot.

With the track’s leading driver Reg Gassien at the controls the 4-year-old daughter of Cantab Hall was sent directly to the top and never looked back to win in 1:57.2. The top three finishers were the females in the field with Amoureuse Hanover second and Justasmalltowngirl third.

It was the second win in 12 tries this year for Pink Pistol who is trained by Pete Shody for owners Knightstalker Stable of Oshawa, Ont.

The Goodtimes anchored the inaugural Titans of Trotting night at Kawartha which celebrated the careers of three very talented trotters who started their careers at the five-eighths mile track in Fraserville and ended them with induction to the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in Goodtimes, Billyjojimbob and San Pail.

The Billyjojimbob Trot was captured aptly by Murray Brethour the regular pilot behind Billyjojimbob during most of his storied career for owner Lori Ferguson who is part of Kawartha’s marketing staff.

Rod Hughes, the trainer and co-owner of the great San Pail, Horse of the Year in Canada and the US in 2011, was on hand to make the presentation to the winner of tonight’s San Pail Trot, Ken Kan Win who gave Gassien a 1:57.4 ride.

There are three more race nights left on Kawartha’s 2017 calendar with racing back next Saturday night (Sept. 9) with a 7 p.m. post.
