Plainridge CEO Gary Piontkowski resigns

Columbus, OH — The Sun Chronicle of North Attleboro, Mass., is reporting that Plainridge Racecourse President and CEO Gary Piontkowski has resigned because of health problems.

Piontkowski has been involved in the horse racing industry for 38 years and was the chairman of the Massachusetts State Racing Commission under former Gov. William Weld. He served on the USTA board of directors from 1995-1997.

Piontkowski was inducted into the New England Hall of Fame in 2007.
