Plainridge moves season opener up two days

Plainridge Racecourse press release

Plainville, MA — General Manager Steve O’Toole announced today that the Massachusetts State Racing Commission has approved the Plainridge Racecourse request to move its season opener up two days. As a result the 2012 season at the harness track will get underway on Saturday April 21, with a special 1 P.M. post time for the afternoon card.

“We will try to generate some excitement this season on opening day”, said O’Toole, noting that the earlier post on a Saturday will allow more fans to personally celebrate the return of live racing. Essentially a spring festival, the special racing program will be just one element of a community fun day, which will include rides for children, a Bar-B-Que along with other special events to be announced in the near future.

Opening day for the 14th season at Plainridge had originally been scheduled for Monday April 23. However that card will now be raced the previous Saturday. Beginning Tuesday April 24, the track will conduct live racing on its traditional days and post times, (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 P.M,) through the end of August.

Updated information for the Plainridge Community Fun Day will be posted on the track’s website at www.prcharness.com
